Artist's Comments

This was taken on the same day as "Jacob Never Smiles." It's actually Jake's mom, my aunt. They've been through some rough stuff in the past few years & it is starting to show a little bit. I think her wrinkles are beautiful.

I realize she has sort of a funny look on her face, but it's actually a family trademark. It's a look of sarcasm and amused interest, and of course squinting into the sun. All the women in my family get this expression on their faces ^_^

Anyway, comments & critique welcome. I wish it were in slightly sharper focus, but the fact that she was oblivious to the photo being taken is a fair trade off

Nice portrait. I like it a lot.

She's beautiful. Is that the look that Jesse has so much of the thyme? Cause I certainly recognize it. :) (Smile)

Beautiful picture. As I look at her face I find myself wondering what she is thinking at that moment.

I do too. You've captured her expression in a marvelous way. I think, at times, I see that same look on my mom's face, too. It... just makes me smile back. And the more I scroll up and look at it, the more I like it.

The only complaint I have is the man in the background. He sort of takes the focus away from her, but it adds character, too. Bon.

nice. i remember when you got those developed and brought them over at some kind of gathering for us to see. do i detect the beginnings of a family showcase? *is disturbed but intrigued by the prospect*

she looks like the type, where if you just wanted to sit down and be held, you could sit in her lap, and just kind of fall right in, andbe comforable. my moms lap seems to be that way too...good picture.
